Teeing Off New Opportunities: Our CEO’s Trip to The Open at Royal Portrush

We believe some of the best business conversations happen outside the boardroom and sometimes, they happen on the golf course.

Last week, our Co-Founder & CEO, Lee Cunnington, swapped meeting rooms for fairways and headed to Northern Ireland for one of the most prestigious events in the golfing calendar. The 152nd Open at Royal Portrush.

But this trip was about more than watching the world’s top golfers tee it up on one of the most stunning courses in the world. It was also a chance for Lee to connect with existing clients, potential partners. All in a setting that perfectly balanced business with inspiration.

Taking Type Global Conversations to the Fairways

Lee spent the week discussing how type is transforming the way retailers and businesses manage parcel claims. The message was clear:

“We’re automating what used to be a slow, manual, admin-heavy process — turning it into a few clicks, saving time, money, and sanity.”

With global shipping volumes at record highs and delivery expectations tighter than ever, our platform is helping businesses win back lost revenue and streamline frustrating claims procedures.

Quality Time with Clients & Partners

Among the incredible moments at The Open, Lee had the opportunity to meet with some of our amazing clients and retail leaders to share what’s next for type. From deep product chats over dinner to impromptu strategy sessions between holes, the trip was full of meaningful connection.

“Being able to sit down with clients in such a relaxed environment is so powerful,” Lee said. “The Open gave us a unique chance to talk vision, dig into feedback, and share some exciting product updates all without a computer screen.”

A Little Golf, A Lot of Growth

Of course, no trip to The Open would be complete without soaking in the atmosphere. Watching the game’s greats up close served as a powerful reminder of what it takes to stay at the top: precision, adaptability, and confidence values that align perfectly with what we’re building at type.

Whether it was talking retail automation over a flat white or discussing scale-up strategy while watching birdies drop on the course, the week in Portrush was one for the books.

Final Thoughts

As we continue to grow type and expand our reach across the UK and beyond, opportunities like this remind us why we do what we do. Helping businesses eliminate inefficiencies, recover costs, and focus on what they do best.

If you weren’t at Portrush with Lee, don’t worry he’s back, energised, and ready to demo what our claims automation can do for your business.
